This was the 3rd year that I volunteered for wigwam at new wine and the same as the first & second year, I helped out I was put in the Main Arena this year with Rich Harris in monitors & James Silvers at FOH. And as always I was doing the after-hours Arena Bar stage that had a different act every night from a quiz night to a function band.
I was mixing on an Allen and Heath QU16 and had stacks of D&B C Series with some B22 Subs and some M4 Wedges as well as some Y7P’s and side fills. It was a great system and handled everything from just speech and background music to a band.
My Favourite evening of the whole 2 weeks was when the band from the main stage played for the open mic night. It was a great atmosphere and kept me on my toes! especially the mixing of an iPad.
During the 3 weeks with all the crew, it was great to develop my skills and learn lots of useful tips and tricks from people who have been in the industry for years. It was also great to have a chat with everyone during social times and find out how they got into the industry.
