This was my 3rd year working with the company I started back in 2015 that was my first time in the same venue operating sound for a theatre show.
I had 8 wireless microphones for the actors, a full band with keys, drums, 2 wind instruments, electric guitar, bass guitar and some tracks. I also had 4 channels of playback from various computers running Qlab.
As-well as doing audio I also was doing all the video, I had two 50″ Plasma TV Screens either side of the stage on tank traps with a lot of stage weights on the bottom as well as a projector projecting onto a white cyc with the band behind so they could use the band in one of the scenes at the end. This projector was projecting the backdrops for each scene. All of these surfaces were being controlled by an Apple Mac Pro with Qlab that was being triggered from the Macbook pro running all of the sound effects via OSC commands through the network. This worked really well.
I also brought my own sound desk in because the venues one doesn’t allow multi-track recording and I ideally needed this feature to produce the DVD that I was filming for as-well that I produced with titles and multi-cameras.
